Technology plays a major role in our life. It reduces our effort and saves us a lot of time so that we can get more things done in our daily life. During my old school days, we spend a lot of time doing household chores (washing clothes, washing dishes, sweeping the floor etc) but today, most of our chores if not all, are done by machines. Let’s look at laundry as an example. When I was a kid, my mom used to hand-wash our clothes and then dry them outside before folding them nicely and placing them into the closet. How is it going today? As I grew a little older, we already had a washing machine at home and soon after that clothes dryer was introduced into the market, which we didn’t buy because coin based laundry service quickly mushroomed everywhere even before we could think of buying one.
Just today, I got to know that we even have a clothes folding machine. Let me introduce FoldiMate, a cloth folding machine which was introduced as a prototype in CES last year. The company which invented this machine claims that it can fold a load of clothes in less than 4 minutes. Seriously…….WOW!
So what can this machine fold? Unfortunately it will not be able to fold your curtains, sarees and blankets. Basically it fold any type of shirt, blouse, or pants from age 6 to adult size XXL. It will also fold standard size towels and pillowcases.
Are you planning to buy one? You can pre-order a unit now by paying just 10% of the actual price. Estimated price of this machine is USD 980 excluding tax & shipping. Before you grab your credit card and get into your shopping mood, let me inform you in advance that the first shipment will only start in late 2019 (yes, towards the end of next year). Even that starts from the US and only at a later stage, the machine will be shipped to the rest of the world (based on demand).
Looking at it positively, probably by the time this folding machine is introduced here, some companies from China will already come up with a similar one at half the price and sell that here (opps, sorry FoldiMate, that is going to disappoint you a lot).
Below are some videos of FoldiMate :
